Submitted by Joe Lombardo on Sat, 07/10/2004 - 16:00. Installing the Deck Trimming the excess deck material from the cockpit was tough. I ended up cutting into the deck a tiny bit. It was too tight a curve for my block plane
to be of use. I finally resorted to sanding down the extra with my random orbital
sander
. It was slow, but more straightforward.
Another observation, was that after flipping the boat over and pouring some mustard thick epoxy
glue along the deck to hull seam, created a lot more work when trimming and planning the excess deck material. My plane didn't like the hardened epoxy.
All in all, I am moving along pretty well and should be able to put the boat in the water on vacation next week. It just might not look so great until I do the finishing steps this winter.
